Lot consists of: Gun (A) British SMLE No. 3 dated 1916. Has the stripper clip alteration. Rifles of this design were used extensively in World War I. Stock set consists of four pieces of walnut, two part stock and two part handguard. Has all proper English proofs. One original magazine. Lower forend and buttstock are both arsenal marked. Period sling. CONDITION: Retains 90% of the arsenal blue finish with the balance turning patina with high edge wear. Fine bore and action. Classic British Battle rifle from the first World War. Gun (B) Finnish Model 1939 Short Rifle Army/Civil Guard produced by VKT. Dated 1944. Has a finished SA stamp at top of bridge. Features round knob full length stock with long hand guard. Arsenal matte finish on frame. Blue barrel. This example is import stamped. Beautiful condition 1939 short rifle. Spliced stock. Stationary magazine. CONDITION: Retains 90% of the arsenal reapplied finish. Fine action. Strong bore. An extremely nice example of a rarely seen rifle. Prior to 1917, Finland was a part of Russia and all of the early Finnish military rifles were built on the 1891/30 Mosin Nagant actions.
