Serial number 767 and chambered for the 7.63 cartridge. Scarce and highly desirable Mannlicher Carbine with 11-3/4" barrel having a drift adjustable front sight and two position folding leaf rear sight. Serial number 767 in on left side of chamber under a crown "N" proof. Serial number 767 was also observed on interior of lower sub-frame assembly, trigger housing, trigger, bolt, bridle and most small components inside. The magazine is serial number 570 but fits properly. These unique little carbines operate very much like a system Mauser Broomhandle pistol or carbine, with numerous exceptions like the external cocking lever. This is considered the Military Configuration with the sling swivel mounted on the side of the barrel as opposed to the bottom as the commercial variations. The carbine is mounted with smooth walnut buttstock with steel buttplate and a smooth walnut barrel shroud or hand guard. These are a very interesting and uncommon carbine and are very rarely offered for sale. CONDITION: Good overall as partially refinished. The wood stocks are very fine but have been very lightly sanded and refinished. The exterior metal surfaces has about 60% of their period rust blue finish with losses on frame sides and edges of trigger assembly, as well as high point wear. The bore is rather dark but has strong visible rifling. The action functions properly when operated manually. TDW
