Made by Hunter Arms Company in 1921. 1 of 227 12 gauge Monogram grades and 1 of 76 made with 32" barrels. According to Cody Research, this gun was made for C.W. Stribley, who possibly could be Charles Stribley, a friend and neighbor of Henry Ford and Thomas Edison, and a well-known target shooter of the day. Blued 32" Whitworth steel barrels with raised matted rib, ejectors, twin beads, "L.C. SMITH MONOGRAM" rib marking, and "Sir Joseph Whitworth Fluid Compressed Steel" and "Made to Order by Hunter Arms Company Fulton, N.Y." barrel markings. Barrels are choked Improved Modified and Modified with 2 - 3/4" chambers. Case hardened finished regular weight sidelock action with "L.C. Smith" markings and full coverage engraving with vignettes of birds. Non-automatic safety and Hunter single selective trigger with blued floral engraved trigger guard. Checkered walnut pistol grip stock with period Hawkins rubber recoil pad, factory style black plastic grip cap, and factory diamond tail checkered beavertail forearm with roller latch release. Cody Research verifies all options, but, unfortunately, there is no repair order. CONDITION: Overall 90%+ with possible old professional reblue. 90% fading vivid case colors with sharp markings. Good wood with 90% finish with some scrapes and scratches from usage and sharp checkering. Buttstock is a professional replacement, checkering does not match the Monogram style. The grip cap has broken edges. Stock resembles work done by Smith later, with metal possibly refreshed at the same time. Good mechanics with mirror bores, tight lock up, and a lever way to right with fantastic screws. A very desirable shotgun.
