Very nice and vintage circa 1912 bolt action rifle that has a 24" blued barrel with a double square bridge and engraved “JOHN RIGBY & CO. 43 SACKVILLE ST. LONDON. W." also fitted with a ramp mounted bladed front sight and short island base with rear sights of one fixed sight at 100 yards and two folding leaf sights at 300 and 400 yards. The barrel also has a mid barrel band with eye for sling loop. The early Mauser action is smooth and its trigger is smooth, light and crisp with a wing safety. The straight grained strong reddish brown walnut stock has a pistol grip with steel grip cap with trap door, no cheekpiece, serrated steel butt plate with door and eye for sling loop. Pistol grip and forend both with sharp checkering. Rifle has also been built with cross bolt for extra strength and stability. Vintage green canvas case. CONDITION: Very good. Barrel with approximately 98% blue with some handling or storage marks. Stock and forend in very good condition with few handling marks and sharp checkering. Canvas case in fair condition. CORRECTION: The action is a single square bridge not a double square bridge. After further research, this gun has been refinished. This rifle is also import-marked "SIMPSON LTD GBURG IL" on the right side of the rear receiver ring just forward of the bolt handle.
