Factory letter states half nickel finish, .22 short, and shipped on April 13, 1899 with return and repair on June 18, 1903. Nickel finish frame, bolt, trigger guard, and buttplate. Octagon barrel and tube are blue. The barrel legend is on top, type 3. Caliber is stamped at breech. Rifle sports a Beech folding globe front sight, Winchester folding two leaf rear sight, and a tang sight. The walnut stock has been upgraded with D style checkering and oak leaves. Forearm is checkered in the same D pattern. CONDITION: Fine. Retains nearly all of the nickel with scattered handling marks. The barrel shows significant blue but has some patina bleeding through, high edge wear and scattered handling marks with bold legends. Stock shows at least XX grain, is proud to metal, has razor sharp checkering, and minor impressions. Mechanically sound. Bore is still defined but frosted with some abrasions.
