Made by J. Stevens Arms and Tool Company circa 1915. Known as the "Ideal Schuetzen Rifle". 28" blued half octagon No. 4 weight Stevens factory steel barrel with Stevens address, removed front sight with exposed dovetail, no rear sight provision, and Vernier tang sight. Coin finished and floral engraved No. 44 receiver with Schuetzen double set triggers with loop lever and walnut grip. Standard Schuetzen configuration checkered walnut stock with cheekpiece, Swiss style steel buttplate, and matching checkered walnut schnabel forearm with palm rest. CONDITION: 98% bright barrel blue with edge wear. Action with 95% finish remaining and good engraving. 90% varnish. Small handling marks, and dings overall, with light crazing and a small piece of wood missing behind the left action side along the tang. The forearm is missing 2 screws. Good bore with visible rifling and crisp mechanics.
