Manufactured from 1909 through 1918, the Marble Arms Model 1908A was chambered for the .22 Long Rifle cartridge in the top barrel and the .44 shot or round ball chambering in the bottom barrel. These very early models were equipped with a folding tang sight behind the hammer and the buttplate was fastened with two screws to the tubular folding frame. Two piece hard rubber grips with the "MARBLE" trade mark at top and fitted with 18 inch barrels. Folding tubular stock with turn screw tensioner adjustment. Blue finish overall with a case colored hammer with a pivoting striker for selecting the barrel to be fired. Receiver is marked on left side "GAME GETTER" with "MANUFACTURED BY THE MARBLE SAFETY AXE CO. GLADSTONE, MICH.U.S.A." on left side of barrel trunnion. Marked "CALIBERS-22&44" on right side of barrel trunnion and "PATENT ALLOWED" on right side of receiver. A sight slot blank marked "KING" is fitted into the sight slot above chambers. CONDITION. Very fine with over 80% of the thinning blue finish remaining with balance turning patina. The barrels have some very light pitting on the exterior but it has blended well. Tubular stock is very fine though slightly tarnished. The stock locks up rigidly and functions properly. The bores are both bright and shiny. The action locks up tight and functions properly. The grips are excellent with no cracks but do have several very small chips at the outer edges that are hardly noticeable. These 18 inch variations are very uncommon to find and this is one of the best we have seen to date.
