This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/12/2026
This spectacular sporting rifle was custom crafted by the master rifle builders Hartmann & Weiss of Hamburg, Germany, as is inlaid "HATTMANN & WEISS HAMBURG" on each of the two matching barrels. Riffle currently sports a tapered blued barrel engraved "CAL. .416 RIGBY" on the stipple matted quarter rib, which is also mounted with 3-leaf gold lined express rear sights graduated at "50", "150", and "250". The bead top blade front sight with flip up floral engraved moon sight is set on a gold line inlaid, stipple matted ramped base. Geometric gold inlaid bands also embellish the breech. Underside of the barrel has "Nr. 9928" stamping along with "3 05" dated German Kiel nitro proofs. A second equally fine and similarly appointed 26" blued lightweight tapered barrel also accompanies this lot, engraved "CAL. 300 JARRETT" on the matted quarter rib. Beaded blade front sight sight with floral engraved moon sight on a gold line inlaid, stipple matted ramped base and 2-leaf gold lined express rear sights mounted to the quarter rib, graduated at "100" and "250". Underside of the barrel is also numbered "Nr. 9928" with "3 05" dated proofs. A case hardened bolt is provided for each caliber, numbered "416" and "300" in gold respectively on the extractor collars. The turned down bolt handles are delicately engraved with fine foliate scroll and vine, and terminate in checkered knobs, the undersides numbered "28" to match. Engraved shrouds with side mounted sporting safeties, the "F" for "Feuer" or "Fire" inlaid in gold. The boutique, in-house made 98 Mauser style magnum repeater action with integral scope bases and an extended tang which extends up onto the comb is finished in rich case color with fine scroll and tendril engraving. Action is mounted with a Swarovski 2.5-10x42mm Habicht scope with 4N duplex crosshair reticle. The face of the case hardened trigger is checkered and the sides tendril engraved. Trigger guard and push button release magazine floorplate are also case hardened with high coverage fine foliate scroll and floral engraving. The tang, trap grip cap, reinforcing bolts, takedown mechanism, and forend screws are case hardened and engraved en suite. Each barrel is equipped with a lovely corresponding finely checkered walnut forend with ebony tips. Stock is of fine figure and is elegantly formed with a checkered pistol grip and double line European cheekpiece. It is mounted with a blank gold lined toeline escutcheon, leather pad, and rear sling swivel, corresponding forward swivels mounted to each barrel. CONDITION: Excellent. Virtually all of the factory applied blue is retained on both sets of barrels. Case colors are bright and strong. Some minor fading and wear evident on the working surfaces of the bolts. Stocks are extremely fine with scant handling marks. Bores are fine and bright with crisp, well defined rifling. Fine mechanics. A truly outstanding and versatile rifle of the finest quality for the discerning sportsman and gentlemanly collector.
