This Springfield Model 1911 was manufactured in 1914. Standard features include a 5" barrel, blued finish, diamond checkered walnut grips, chambered for the .45 ACP cartridge, integral front sight, and proper mainspring. Left side of the frame is stamped "United States Property" with an Ordanance bomb. Right side of frame stamped with serial number. Left side of slide is stamped "Springfield Armory" with Ordanance bomb and Colt patent dates, right side is stamped "Model of 1911 U.S. Army" with Springfield eagle. The magazine is the special original Springfield 1911 lanyard loop with roll-over bottom. Other features include the long smooth trigger, checkered small parts, checkered long spur hammer, exclusive Springfield checkered walnut grips, and blued barrel has the Springfield "S" on lug. Mint bore and action. Barrel bushing is stamped with an "S", as is thumb safety. This example is one of the finest condition Springfields this writer has ever seen. The slide retains approximately 98% original factory finish with a hint of high edge muzzle wear while the frame retains virtually all of the original factory blue, albeit a light drag line. Truly an exceptional pre-World War I Springfield/Colt 1911 that would be almost impossible to improve upon. This gun has been completely disassembled and examined by noted 1911 expert Eric Gustafson who has confirmed that this gun is completely original.
