Lot consists of: Gun (A) Potts & Hunt London Enfield type single shot percussion rifle. Bayonet lug on right side of barrel, double bands, ramrod, full length walnut stock. CONDITION: Barrel retains 50% of the later reapplied high polish blue finish. Front barrel band is a case colored replica. Lock retains 50% of reapplied finish. Quite a bit of pitting under the finish on breech. Forward comb of stock has a repair. Wood is refinished with markings gone and 1/4" shy at toe of buttplate. Strong, shiny bore and good action. Good reenactor gun. Gun (B) US Model 1863 Providence Tool Co. contract musket. Lock is dated 1864 and stamped 'US" with eagle "PROVIDENCE TOOL CO. PROVIDENCE RI". Barrel has the "VP" proof on left with inspector stamp "D". Left side of stock has two cartouches that are visible but hard to read. Features three barrel bands, sling swivels, US" stamped buttplate, two leaf folding rear sight. Front sight replaced. CONDITION: All metal is in the white which is now gunmetal grey with age freckling and pitting behind the sight. Stock is very good to excellent with usual handling marks and dings from use. Has a new nipples, new bolster screw. Trigger guard has been cleaned. Rifled bore is near mint. Fine action. Given the nice bores, both of these rifles would be very accurate reenactment rifles.
