24" medium weight barrel without sights and not drilled or tapped for sights, is marked with caliber, serial number and "MADE IN BELGIUM" on right side and "BROWNING ARMS COMPANY" on left. There are 2" sprays of open shaded scroll on breech end. Coin finished short extractor magnum length FN action features gold plated trigger, side safety, and hinged floorplate. Action is engraved with near full coverage large open scrolling acanthus surrounding vignettes of game suitable quarry for a rifle of this caliber; a bull moose is on left side of receiver ring, and an elk is on right. Floorplate has vignette of standing grizzly bear claws outstretched in background of glacier terminus. A snarling cougar is on trigger guard bow. Moose scene is signed "R. Kowalski" and bear scene is signed "A Bee". Mountain lion is signed with initials "GC" (Gino Cargnel). Wonderfully burl figured claro walnut capped pistol grip stock features swept right hand Monte Carlo cheekpiece, recoil bolts, rosewood forend tip and grip cap which has inset gold diamond, and measures 13-1/2" over open sided Browning pad. Checkering at grip and forend is of modified point pattern with wavy borders terminations of which are relief carved in acanthus scroll with shaded background. Sling eyes are fitted. Weight: 8 lbs 3 oz. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining essentially all original metal finish. Stock retains nearly all its original finish as well, but with some light marks and lifting of varnish around checkering, and inletting of bottom metal. Checkering and carving is somewhat darkened. Bore is excellent. Mechanically excellent. Browning Olympians of any caliber and condition are becoming very hard to find. MGM 14
