Impressive large ensemble of the famous Schoenhut circus with large oval tent with two nice side panels for the side show in excellent condition with the tent having its original red and white striped canvas tent cover, painted supporting beams and oval circus ring below. Included are a large assortment of animals and circus performers consisting of 22 various animals, 12 performers and human figures consisting of a ringmaster, a hobo, a black dude, 2 male performers, 1 with bisque head (slight nose rub), a bisque head acrobat, 3 clowns, 2 with 2-part face, 1 farmer, and 2 dressed monkeys. Included in the animals are the desirable rabbit with painted eyes, a glass-eyed pig, a glass-eyed sheep, a glass-eyed zebra, a glass-eyed striped tiger, a glass-eyed bear, 2 glass-eyed poodles (one with carved mane, the other with cloth mane) and a very nice glass-eyed alligator with original leather webbed feet. There is also a glass-eyed elephant, a glass-eyed goat, a brown glass-eyed lion with cloth mane and a very nice glass-eyed dapple-painted horse with cloth mane and circular wooden platform on back to support a riding circus performer in a standing position. All other animals have painted eyes and they include another zebra, a spotted leopard, a rhino, a sea lion, a goose, a white polar bear and a cow with udders and hard leather horns, but missing one of the soft leather ears. In addition, there are circular cages, 5 ladders, 4 chairs, various barrels and circular platforms and a red small cage on wooden wheels which says on the side "Schoenhut's Humpty Dumpty Circus The Greatest Show on Earth". In addition there is a hoop and 5 flags: 1 large, 2 medium and 2 small ones. Includes an original Schoenhut catalog, featuring the various possibilities of the Schoenhut circus as well as other Schoenhut items, and a photocopy of illustrations of all the items as well. The size of tent when assembled is 44" long, 18" deep. CONDITION: Overall very good, as to be expected, due to the numerous amount of items, there are several little areas of paint loss and wear, but other than as described and considering the age, overall very good.
