May 23rd 2015 Premier Firearms Sale
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/22/2015
According to the factory letter this carbine was shipped as a carbine with the application date not available. Letter further states it was changed to a musket on October 15th, 1879. This gun is obviously not a musket and is fairly typical given the hand written records. If the factory letter is correct, this rifle was re-converted back to a carbine at some point in its life. Barrel measures 19-3/4" with a full magazine. Barrel stamp weak but readable. Barrel and tube are a mix of blue and gun metal grey. Brass frame is excellent and has never been cleaned. Saddle ring on left side. Rifle brass buttplate. Wood is very good, a bit shy to metal, with a small 3/4" crack on fore arm and a chip on the left fore arm. Rifling is visible. Very good bore.
