Often referred to as the Old, old Model Russian, or the Model No. 3 Russian First Model, in essence is identical to a Second Model American except for the Russian Model stamp on rib and it is chambered for the .44 S&W Russian cartridge instead of the .44 American. Manufactured from 1871 to 1874. Standard features include an 8" barrel, blued finish, walnut grips, single action, and top break. Gun appears all original. It is now basically an untouched brown patina. It appears as if all the screws on the left side are boogered, as well as the top strap. The grips appear original but are shy to the metal and are short at all four toes. The gun has never been refinished. Cylinder spins freely and does not lock up, although it does index. Strong bore with some minor abrasions. No wiggle in the lock up. With a little work, such as refitting the screws and some attention to the cylinder lock up, it would make a nice example of an early Russian.
