Interesting combination gun often referred to by collectors as the "Mule Ear" as the hammers on the right side of the frame. Has a single right side plate with light engraving. Over-under 34" barrels. Top barrel is rifled .40 caliber. Bottom barrel is smooth bore 16 ga. Missing one ramrod. Right side ramrod intact. Gun is basically a blue-brown patina with some wiped on finish. Has a fixed rear sight. Walnut stock with heat checking. Semi-fancy engraved brass trigger guard and wrap-around brass buttplate. No cracks or chips in wood. Light stress crack in the metal on the tang. Brass patchbox on the right side. Circa 1840-50's percussion system.
