When Cutts invented the variable choke attachment, it was considered a modern marvel in that it had allowed a hunter to use one gun for all his shotgunning needs. Winchester was quick to recognize this innovation and began to install the new Cutts compensator on many of their shotguns prior to leaving the factory. It is rare to find a factory installed example as most were done on the after-market. The lack of any choke marking on the left side of the barrel and the original duck billed ventilated rib with the offset PW indicates an original example. Standard features include 12 ga., 2-3/4" chamber, and 26-1/2" barrel. 14" LOP to a solid red pad. Stocks are a beautiful burl walnut with incredible grain and extra fancy fleur-de-lis checkering with a Winchester grip cap. Finish includes gold plated trigger with blued finish and polished bolt. Gun was manufactured in 1959. There is a little forward slide tube wear and a minute hint of wear on the left side of the frame. Otherwise the gun remains in near new condition with a mirror bore and action. A beautiful factory pre-64 "one gun does it all" shotgun.
