The Bren was originally chambered for the .303 British and then converted to 7.62mm however this receiver is not marked with the "7.62mm IA" designation, barrel length 25 inches with flash hider. This firearm started life as a fully automatic Bren Mk II machine gun. Receiver was then cut as per AFT instructions. The receiver was reconstructed as a semi-automatic rifle. This rifle comes with the parts identification and lists, complete instructions on the reassembly of a cut receiver into a legal semi-automatic firing rifle. Also included with the paperwork is the application and permit for importation of firearms, ammunition and implements of war and a receipt from Inter Ordnance of America for the Bren Mk II parts kit. The front bipod is correct for the MkII. Rear flip up aperture is adjustable for elevation. Extras include a spare barrel and one thirty round magazine. The machinist whom reassembled this receiver has done a remarkable job as it is very hard to see where it was welded back together. The receiver is marked Bren MkII and Ignlis 1943 on the right side. The shaft on the left is marked A.S.R., there has been a stopped welded in place so the safety selector will only move into the S and R positions. There are a few very light stampings on the left side of the receiver that cannot be made out from the machining and polishing after reassembly. The wood furniture is in good condition with dings and scratches as from a gun from 1943. This firearm would make a great addition to any collection.
