5-1/2" barrel in .45 LC caliber. According to the Colt Factory letter, this revolver was shipped to Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co. in Chicago, Illinois on 3-18-1902 in a 25 gun shipment. It left the factory as a blued 4-3/4" .44-40 caliber. This revolver was subsequently rebarreled with a new cylinder chambered for .45 LC. The entire revolver was profusely scroll engraved in the style of Helfricht. The left recoil shield has an engraved antlered game. Has a punch dot background. the cylinder, ejector rod housing, backstrap, and screws are all gold washed. Has carved ivory grips with eagle on both panels. Matching serial number on frame, trigger guard, and backstrap. The quality of work is that of a master engraver. All cuts are clean with good flow and fine detail. Factory legends on top of barrel are sharp. Patent dates on left side of frame are less pronounced in one small area. There is some wear to gold wash on backstrap and housing. As to the the nickel finish, it remains at 99%. Grips are near mint. Action is perfect. Near mint bore. An exquisite presentation grade Colt Single Action Army.
