Offered is one of the finest, early post-war Roy Weatherby custom rifles ever made. The barrel and frame retain 98% of the high polish factory blue finish, never inleaded for sights, jeweled bolt, checkered bolt knob, early FN Mauser pre-J.P. Sauer action, early Beuhler mounts, early Weatherby variable 2-3/4x10x scope, and fine coin finished trigger guard and buttplate.. Some wear to finish on tip of safety. Trigger guard engraved with a bobcat vignette. The most beautiful aspect of this rifle is the custom Roy Weatherby stock featuring mesquite wood with beautiful contrasting grain, dark ebony or rosewood forend tip and grip cap with white diamond, custom skip diamond checkered engraving pattern on wrist and forend, Weatherby red ventilated recoil pad and rare double set adjustable triggers. In one of the rarest of all Weatherby calibers as it was only offered the first few years, the .220 Rocket. The checkering pattern is very similar to the "10A" found in the 56-57 catalog as well as the pattern "8" which was an additional $150 at the time. The 1956-57 catalog as has two pages devoted to the .220 Weatherby Rocket cartridge, comparing it to the .220 Swift. This is arguably one of the most handsome Weatherby rifles we have offered and one of the earliest. As to condition, rare caliber, rare wood, deluxe checkering, and engraving and is simply spectacular. The floorplate and triggerguard was engraved by Belgian engraver Paul Dubois.
