A fine creation by these two talented gunsmiths, the metal work was by Smithson, with stock by Billeb. Featherweight barrel is engraved with both makers names on top and caliber at left rear. Special lightweight G33/40 98 action has been nicely polished and shaped. Bolt has traditional pear shaped knob added and handle has been altered for low scope use. Bolt shroud is fitted with Model 70 type safety. Custom bottom metal with straddle hinged floorplate has button release in trigger guard bow. A commercial trigger has been fitted. Very nicely veined and lightly figured European walnut steel capped pistol grip buttstock measures 13-3/4" over Neidner steel buttplate. Stock is traditionally styled with small shadow line right hand cheekpiece, ebony forend tip with widow's peak, sling eyes, and very well cut point pattern checkering around grip and forend. Leupold Vari X I 3X9 scope with duplex reticle is in special custom Weaver type rings nicely fitted to action. Excellent condition, retaining essentially all custom finishes on all wood and metal with only a few minor handling marks. Bore is excellent. Action is smooth. Scope is excellent. Weight with scope: 8 lbs. 0 oz. A lovely lightweight rifle. From the G. Thomas Puett Collection.
