Lot consists of: (A) American circa 1780-1820 24-hole Militia Waist Box. For a similar example, see page 27 of "Battle Weapons of the American Revolution" by George C. Neumann. This example has a deep flap, wooden .75 caliber block retained by square nails, and two leather belt loops on back. CONDITION: Leather is brittle with some cracking and one large tear across front of flap. Belt loops both broken, but there. Lid detached. (B) American Revolutionary War Waist Cartridge Box with 18 holes, circa 1775-1783. For a similar example, see page 26 of "Battle Weapons of the American Revolution" by George C. Neumann. This is a popular American form with a squared body and flap. Contoured back and approximately .75 caliber wooden block. CONDITION: Leather is still pliable with some minor cracking. Clasp and part of leather clasp loop are absent. Belt loops complete and original. One small loss at top of left side. Block shows some deterioration. A very nice box.
