Winchester/Lee Model 1895 straight pull, cam-action magazine rifle. Adopted by the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps in 1895 as a first line rifle. The Navy's designation for the Lee Straight-Pull rifle was as the "LEE RIFLE, MODEL of 1895, CALIBER 6-mm" The 6mm cartridge measures .236", semi-rimless case, with a 135-grain bullet. This same round was used in the Colt-Browning 1895 machinegun. Approximately 15,000 were produced between 1895-1902. This example, serial number 7113 is marked on the receiver in 4 lines: "-U.S.N.-/(anchor)/1633/-N.C.T-". 28" round barrel with tall blade hooded front sight and fold down elevator rear barrel sight. Plain straight grain, full length 1 piece walnut stock. Middle barrel band with sling swivel, front band with bayonet lug. Carbine style buttplate. CONDITION: Good overall. Metal has 75-80% original blue with scattered areas of moderate corrosion. Bore is very good showing moderate abrasion. Action operates correctly. Wood shows moderate to heavy use with coats of reapplied varnish. Longitudinal crack from the buttplate to the trigger guard tang. Old repair at the frame top tang. Second longitudinal crack running along the comb, from the buttplate to the frame top tang. -MKS-
