(A) The 1917 World War One Trench Knife is made by the company "L.F.&C." on the underside of the guard. The triangle shaped blade, intended to inflict wounds that weren't easy to stitch closed, is made of steel with grease streaks along its sides, light runner marks, and original bluing in areas. The steel guard exhibits an even dark patina over the original bluing. The wooden grip has darkened from age, and exhibits not damage. The leather scabbard shows light use along it's leather and a nice patina. The steel fittings are blued with scattered freckling throughout. CONDITION: Excellent. (B) The 1918 Trench Knife is maker marked on the blades ricasso area for the maker "Aulion". The blade is made of steel and appears to have been heavy cleaned at some point. The brass hilt and knuckles are made of solid cast brass which has developed a dark patina to the recesses of the rough casting areas. The blades resting nut is made of steel with an even freckling throughout. No scabbard accompanies this fight knife. CONDITION: Very Good. D.W.
