This is a very detailed automaton featuring an artist painting at his easel with a mechanism marked for Switzerland, maker unknown. This was obviously handmade and is in working order. Their are 5 movements, including the arm representing a painting stroke, turn of the head, head nodding, and the bird chirping a song as the painter paints. The piece has age with a wooden base and the artist figure is composition with articulated arms. It shows some areas of use and wear. A very unusual automaton with a great diorama appeal.
