Made for the Boston & Maine Railroad, this ornate bronze bell has several machined rings near base and a fancy yoke. Lever actuation mechanism intact. Mounted on a specially made wooden base with Boston & Maine logo, painted black. Yoke has "B & M" cast in with casting No. 185. Includes two acorn finials on yoke cap where bell mounts. Top of yoke casting is cast "Manchester Locomotive Works" on both sides. Bell is from Boston & Maine locomotive No. 937, built by Manchester Locomotive Works in 1895. Included with the lot is a picture of the locomotive bell and a detailed description of people that were involved with the manufacture and the making of the locomotive.
