Made circa 1941-43, and purchased by the Navy. The Navy would have these in storage until they decided to use them as trophies, awarded to top shooters in various national, international, and inter-service matches. The floor plate is marked "SECRETARY OF THE NAVY TROPHY / 1975 ATLANTIC FLEET CLAY PIGEON CHAMPION". Standard markings on the barrel. "MODEL-720 / 41820" marked on the left side of the receiver. Left butt stock is marked with a crossed cannons cartouche, and "FJA". Round steel barrel with blade front sight and U-notch buckhorn rear. Factory blued finish and plain oiled wood stock. Checkered metal butt plate. Includes original, serial matching box, with manual, and a 2001 edition of American rifleman, with an article documenting the history of Navy Trophy rifles. CONDITION: Metal retains 97% of its original finish with no signs of use. There is factory grease present in areas. Wood is excellent. Bore is shiny and crisp. Mechanically fine. Bolt is still in the carboard sleeve. Box has exterior wear and some ripped edges. JWA
