Standard configuration P.08 Luger manufactured at the Royal Arsenal at Erfurt in 1914. This example bears a 3-digit ("164") serial number with no suffix, indicating that it was the 164th P.08 manufactured at the Erfurt arsenal at the start of 1914. The receiver is stamped "1914" over the chamber, with Erfurt arsenal proofs followed by an Imperial German reichsadler on the right side. Toggle bears Erfurt's standard "(Crown) / ERFURT" stamp, with various small Erfurt proofs throughout. Major metal components are rust blued, with some smaller components being strawed and nitre blued. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered walnut grips. All numbers are matching, with the exception of the takedown lever which is unnumbered, as well as the magazine which is mismatched. CONDITION: Metal components retain large amounts of their arsenal blue finish, exhibiting some areas of wear and areas of thinning that show through to gray and brown patinas. Muzzle exhibits some pitting, with the remainder of the pistol exhibiting mild surface oxidation overall. Bore exhibits pitting and fair rifling throughout. Grips exhibit some nicks to the diamonds and a few scattered impressions, but are otherwise fine. A desirable Erfurt P.08 Luger with a non-suffix 3-digit serial number. MLW
