Circa 1888. An English-made push-forward underlever sidelock non-ejector 20 gauge Lang Patent Trigger Plate shotgun. The blacked, round, steel 32" nitro proved barrels are fit with a tapered, smooth concave game rib fit with a brass bead front sight. The rib is roll marked "JOSEPH LANG & SON, 22 COCKSPUR STREET, PALL MALL, LONDON". Modern London Nitro proof with the proper re-proof marks from 2004, Modern proved for 2 - 3/4" (70mm) cartridges, Chokes are Full on left and Improved Modified on right. The coin finished action is profusely engraved with traditional rose and scroll pattern. The action is fit with a push-forward underlever, double triggers, and disk set strikers. Triggers are protected by a blacked and engraved guard with scrolls. Bottom tang with similar scroll and serial number "7015". Best quality walnut stock with traditional English straight hand grip, vacant stock oval, 1/2" leather covered recoil pad. Splinter forend with snap release. The shotgun is presented in a canvas trunk case with accessories. The case has a paper "JOSEPH LANG & SON" label on the interior of the lid along with a small paper card. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrel bores are bright and shiny, ring well, and are tight on face. Triggers are crisp. Slight handling marks on buttstock and forend. Case is very good with handling and storage marks. A unique gun from one of England's top gunmakers.
