The Whaleship Niger sailed from New Bedford on May 29, 1866 for the North Pacific and returned May 12, 1870 captained by Charles Grant. The tooth is beautifully scrimmed with an image of the ship on the front with the inscription, "Our ship she is full Home we are bound." The back of the tooth is scrimmed with a whale's tail and a poem. Great color and minimal wear.
