Both marked with Slotter markings "J. Derringer, Philadelphia", signed on lock and breech. Barrel has classic original Slotter finish. Brown with striping pattern. 90% of finish remains, however it is fading to dark brown. Breech, tang, lock plate, and hammer engraved with the classic scroll and leaf engraving, all stampings and engravings are very sharp. Metal is all sharp with a gray patina, no pitting or wear to the gray areas. Barrel length from front of breech to muzzle is 2 - 1/4". Gun has an ivory stock and solid gold mounts. Also, a gold front sight and double gold bands at the breech, mounts are beautifully engraved, in the exact same style as the steel parts. The ivory stock is a nice mellow yellow color, all mounts including trigger guard are solid gold. Steel cap box, in the butt. Gold pins embedded in the checkering and other areas of the stock as enhancements. One small stress crack in the ivory, going from the front of the barrel lug plate to the tip of the fore end. No other stress or age cracks in the ivory. Stock is of elephant ivory. In cataloger's opinion, the mounts and ivory stock may possibly be original, may also have possibly been done in the 20th century. No guarantee that they were done in the time of the lock and barrel.
