Patent October of 1922, brass and steel construction. Referred to as the Gopher Gun. The trap plate would spring the cocked firing pin and shoot a blast from a .38 blank in the direction of the varmint. Title and patent date stamped on top. Very good condition turned patina and seems to be in working order
