According to the Colt Factory Archive letter, this gun left the factory as a .45 Colt with a 4 - 3/4" barrel, nickel finish, pearl grips, and factory engraving. It was shipped to Roberts, Hardwick & Taylor Co. in Sherman, Texas, on December 10, 1895, in a shipment of 2 guns. Two line barrel address "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. / HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.". Roll die caliber designation on the left side of the barrel "45 COLT". Two line patent dates on the left side of the frame "PAT. SEPT. 15, 1871 / JULY 2, 72 JAN 19, 75". There is also a rampant Colt logo on the left side of the frame. Matching serial numbers observed on the frame, trigger guard, and back strap. All the screws have a nitre blue finish. This gun is profusely engraved with a scroll and foliate pattern and a punch dot background. There are numerous geometric designs incorporated into the engraving. The grips fit the gun very well and have vibrant colors in the pearl. CONDITION: This gun retains virtually all of the original factory applied nickel finish. It has a few minor storage marks in the finish. The nitre blue screws show very little wear and have not been molested. Bright and shiny bore with strong lands and grooves. The action locks up tight, indexes fine, and has all four clicks. The factory pearl grips are as mint and fit the gun very well.
