Lot consists of (A) Ivory handled naval dirk with tapered double-edged diamond-section blade with high polish surface. Oval-shaped guard with relief-chased shell design on top. Two-piece shaped ivory handle. Black leather scabbard with engraved gilt brass mounts. Top mount marked "SALTER / SWORD CUTLERS TO HRH THE / DUKE OF SUSSEX / CORNER OF / 73 STRAND / LONDON". CONDITION: Blade shows some scattered areas of frosting. Handle shows a couple hairline age cracks. Guard retains most of original gilt finish. Scabbard very good with some scuffing and crazing. Mounts retain generous traces of gilt. (B) Iron mounted naval dirk with double-edged tapered diamond-section blade. Iron s-shaped guard with quillons at both ends. Ivory handle with turned sections and large square checkered center section. Complete with its original Moroccan leather scabbard with iron mounts. CONDITION: Blade shows some sharpening at tip and scattered areas of grey frosting. Guard has a dark grey patina. Ivory shows some hairline grain cracks. Scabbard mounts dark and leather shows some minor wear and scuffing.
