The Sixty Special name was used by Cadillac to denote a special model since the 1938 Harley Earl-Bill Mitchell designed Series Sixty. The 1938 version began as Cadillac’s lowest priced model, named Lasalle, later the Sixty Special name would become synonymous as Cadillac’s most luxurious vehicle. Electric windows and power bench seat would become standard. 1949 brought a new engine to the Cadillac. A 331 cu in OHV V8 engine featured a short-stroke high compression design that provided both quiet and economical operation. A new and wider grille was styled and the Sixty Special was now being advertised as a six-passenger car with record sales achieved in 1949.Offered is a two-owner Cadillac Sixty Special Fleetwood. Originally a Florida car, the Fleetwood is from a collection in South Carolina. Power is provided by the 5.4 liter OHV V8 through a 4 speed Hydra-matic transmission. Mechanically sorted and well maintained over its life, the luxurious 4-door sedan was one of the world’s most comfortable automobiles as well as a moving work of art.• Two Owners from New• 4-Speed Automatic• Collector Owned• 5.4 Liter V8
