Doctors used this cane and put it up to their noses to help them not get sick when they were working with sick people. Pomander canes were used by Doctors for nearly 200 years. "London Warranted Liberty" is engraved on the silver collar. The handle is horn and opens up to show a sponge (missing). The shaft is boxwood, which is very rare and there is no ferrule. C. 1900.
