C. late 1940's to early 1950's Douglas DC-6 promotional desk model. The Douglas DC-6 was a popular airliner and cargo aircraft built by the Douglas Aircraft Company from 1946 to 1958. This aircraft was originally intended as a military transport near the end of World War II, but military production was minimized after the war was won by the United States. The DC-6 was reworked after the war to compete with the Lockheed Constellation in the growing long-range commercial transport market. Constructed of Aluminum, the model is decaled with Douglas company markings and is mounted on a stand which features a nice Douglas Aircraft Company logo. The model is multipiece, with the fuselage and wings screwed together trough the stand. The stand is also constructed of aluminum and features a felt base. Underside of the fuselage is marked "1619" and the model measures approximately 13" tall with a 27 - 1/2" wingspan. The decals remain legible with areas of loss. All 4 propellers are present and rotate properly. One prop on the #4 engine is broken and was reattached with tape. Smooth texture. A very attractive DC-6 model which was most likely displayed on the desk of a Douglas executive.
Condition: (Very Good).
