Lot consists of: (A) M1881 summer pith helmet. White linen over cork body. Solid with no soft spots, overall patina to the outside, but no large stains. Sweatband is intact. HORSTMANN, PHIL 1899 contract stamp to inside of sweatband. (B) M1881 summer pith helmet with white blanco finish. RIDABOCK NEW YORK contract stamp to inside of leather sweatband. (C) M1881 black dress helmet with cavalry gold gilt side buttons. Helmet is missing plume and front plate. Some wool damage to outside. RIDABOCK, NEW YORK contract label to top of crown. (D) Scarce brown enlisted winter hood for foul weather. Unissued condition with original label. (E) Rabbit fur funeral cover for dress helmet. CONDITION: Overall excellent. PROVENANCE: Dr. Frank Wagner cavalry museum collection.
