Pre-War set. One of the longest and most sought after Lionel O-Gauge Sets. Runs on a T-rail track. This set cost almost $100 in 1937 and it was pictured on the cover of the Lionel Catalog in the same year. Set includes No. 700 Hudson Locomotive numbered 5344 with matching 700W Coal Tender, No. 792 Illuminated Combination Baggage Car and Coach, two No. 793 Illuminated Coaches and No. 794 Illuminated Observation Car. Set comes in a very scarce set box marked Outfit No. 709W and includes all individual inside boxes. There are three vestibules that connect the cars and one has an original box marked 792T. Also includes all original section of solid rail straight and curved track, all in original boxes, marked 771 and 772. The Lionel Catalog with the set pictured on the front cover and instructional booklets are included. Set box and individual boxes are bricks with a small section of paper loss above the label. The train itself is flawless and by far the best example ever offered for auction and sold. Minor scratch on the roof of No. 794 car and some rubbing to the Lionel Black Lines stamp on one side of the one No. 793 car. Slight scratching and wear to the two vestibules. All the bellies of the passenger cars are all original with no warping but slight gaps between belly and car body of one 793 and 794 car. This is a rare opportunity to buy a truly fantastic set!
