German. Wind-up toy produced by H. Fischer and Company in Nuremberg, Germany. Working. Marked with Nifty trademark , copyrighted “1923 King Feature Syndicate” & Nifty on bottom of toy and marked “Sparkplug” on both sides of base. All original parts. Toy combines handpainting & lithography with Sparkplug’s saddle blanket being the most obvious hand painted feature. Moderate overall wear. Includes excellent reproduction of the original box with the repeated fish trademark of the toy’s manufacturer. Collection of Carl Lobel.
