With box. German. Circa 1920s. By H. Fischer and Company Nuremberg, Germany. Working. Early example of an eccentric wind-up mechanism, possibly the first. The toy was designed by the creator of the comic strip, Fontaine Fox. Marked "Copyright 1922 Fontaine Fox" and "Toonerville Trolley" on both sides. Original stack and pole with minimal to moderate wear. Includes scarce, original box with paper label and marked "George Borgfeldt & Co." Box has some tears and staining on label with two repaired side aprons on lid. Collection of Carl Lobel.

Condition: Toy (Excellent) Box (Very Good).
