This Black Americana neon sign consists of a porcelain sign in the shape of a winking, blackface caricature of an African-American porter. The neon portion lights the one open eye, the mouth area and the words, "Coon Chicken Inn". The Inn was a popular restaurant chain in the western United States from the late 1920's to the 1950's.
