An absolutely fabulous French automaton converted to play on English coinage and installed within an architecturally visually appealing floor model cabinet. Often various English manufacturers of arcade devices would utilize French automatons such as is the case with this piece. Unsure as to manufacturer or age of this arcade device. When an English penny is dropped in the coin slot the action starts! The magician waves his wand and as the various movements continue, miraculously his head disappears from his shoulders and reappears within the dice cube sitting on the table next to the standing magician. Lower compartment contains some mechanical parts. However, door is in need of adjustment to stay closed. Cabinet does show minor wear and automaton figure is in excellent condition with full eyelashes, mohair wig and glass eyes. A most unusual and fascinating coin operated machine with tremendous appeal as well as presence! In working order.
