This is a one of a kind and obviously rare original oil painting either executed by Haddon Sundblum, or could easily be attributed to his work. The quality of the artwork is truly astounding and was definitely painted by a skilled hand such as Sundblum. This original oil was reproduced and used in a number of Coca - Cola related periodical ads. The artwork, of course, features Edgar Bergen with Charlie McCarthy and is iconic in nature relative to the advertising history of the Coca - Cola company. The piece is attractively framed in a maple frame with no glass. The condition is wonderful with only one or two small and miniscule marks. Included with the lot is a Bergen & McCarthy 1949 paper sign, 1950 National Geographic Magazine with the exact artwork shown on the back cover, an additional back cover only from the same magazine, and a bit more support material. In 1951 Edgar Bergen’s radio show was the number 1 radio show in America. Well before most people had TV’s radios were in most everyone’s home. 9.7.
