Perhaps considered to be the epitome of all figural cast iron cigar cutters! This particular example is in virtually near mint undamaged all original condition with its great copper black oxide finish, tin match cover (contained within match reservoir), and even it's original paper instructions for removing the match reservoir lid & loading matches into the reservoir. This particular cutter was very susceptible to damage to the finely delicately cast six claw feet or his spear, which quite often broke at the hinged joint. When the cigar was placed in the Indians stomach and the spear lever depressed, the cigar tip would be trimmed and a match would be ejected from the reservoir. As the match was ejected, it would strike the saw teeth, instantly lighting the match and finally coming to a stop at a 45 degree angle. Elaborate castings including the makers name and location on the rear of the match reservoir. Directly behind the cutter hole would have been a simplistic tin styled cup to hold the tip clippings, which is no longer present. Absolutely one of the best and most visually appealing!
Condition: (Very Good).
