This extraordinary embossed, two sided tin trade sign is also possibly a weathervane. It looks to be from the mid-19th Century to early 20th Century. It features an aerodynamic, bas relief style mermaid holding an empty pulley and a dark bird on her back. The pulley is probably to secure the piece during storms. There are two L-shaped iron rods extending to the rear of the sign that slipped into a flange that is not included and allowed the piece to freely rotate in the wind. Most of the paint loss is on the mermaid's hair and the bird, both of which appear to have been red. Some oxidation spotting throughout.

Condition: (Very Good).

Item Dimensions: 28'' L.
