Manufactured in 1861. Octagonal barrel with small brass front post site, marked "ADDRESS SAML COLT/HARTFORD CT." Loading lever mounted below barrel, five shot percussion cylinder engraved with "COLT'S PATENT" and a stagecoach robbery scene. Steel frame marked "COLT'S PATENT" on left side. Brass trigger guard and backstrap, walnut grips. Very good condition. All numbers matching. Overall, retains a grey spotted patina with a few areas of light scattered pitting. Left side of barrel log with series of dents from a hammer. Wedge screw has been replaced. Trigger guard bow is bent, walnut grips show some edge ware and scattered marks from use.
