Features iron furniture and no patchbox. One of the most widely used weapons of the Civil War with approximately 40,000 manufactured between 1863 and 1865. This is standard issue in all respects with round barrel and military Lawrence rear sight. Left side of stock has strong visible cartouche. Very visible barrel legends. Proper patent dates on frame. Inspector mark on forend. This is an honest, definitely used, mid-war example of an all original untouched attic-find Sharps rifle. Metal is basically freckled patina. The buttstock shows wear and some minor damage at bottom of wrist, right side, top of wrist right side, toe, and forearm ahead of barrel band with small sliver on right side of forend. Perfect working order. Original nipple. Strong rifled bore with some minor abrasion at breech. These all original Civil War carbines are getting more difficult to locate in untouched condition as a vast majority were converted to self-contained cartridge after the Civil War. If you have been looking for a Civil War carbine that saw use and is an attic-survivor, this would be a fine example.
