This rifle was manufactured in 1887 and is one of the lowest serial numbers to surface to date. It is standard in all respects. Features a full octagon barrel, full magazine, standard Colt sporting sights, blue finish, walnut buttstock, crescent plate and two piece checkered walnut forend. All legends are sharp. All metal is basically a soft brown-grey patina with no apparent cancer. Walnut forend is in excellent condition with usual dings but no cracks or repairs and sharp checkering. Buttstock is very good, slightly shy to metal and chipped at tang. Fine working condition. Rifling visible with black powder abrasion. Handsome, early Colt large frame of which 6,496 were ever manufactured.
