This interesting 19th century revolver, at first glance, appears to be a System Lefaucheux. Several nearly identical examples can be found on pages 243 through 253 of the book "System Lefaucheux" by Chris Curtis. Unlike the revolvers pictured, this is a centerfire example with the folding trigger. The 2-1/4” cylinder was rifled and was manufactured sans an actual barrel. Cylinder has Belgian proof marks, is factory nickel plated with a two piece checkered walnut grip and lanyard ring. The cylinder retains approximately 85-90% original factory nickel with some minor age freckling. Left side of frame retains approximately 95% original nickel. Right side of frame retains approximately 30% original nickel with some age toning. Grip straps are a smooth mix of nickel and soft patina. Rifling is sharp. Fine action. Butt has an additional lanyard ring hole, neither of which affect serial number. Very unusual and fine condition example of a seldom seen 19th century pocket revolver.
