Among the most desirable Savage 1899's are those chambered for the Winchester calibers. The .25-35 was introduced in 1903 and discontinued in 1917. The takedown was not available until 1909. It features the so-called Perch Belly butt stock made of walnut with the crescent steel butt plate. It is standard with the full found barrel, German nickel knife-blade front sight, long sporting rear sight, blued finish with brass cartridge counter on left side and case colored lever. The barrel retains approximately 80% original blue, drifting to soft patina with razor sharp barrel legends. The frame is basically a soft patina, but clean. Case colors on lever have silvered out. Stock is excellent, proud to metal with the only cracking at wrist being a 1/4” hairline. Strong rifled bore and fine action.
